Alice Frances Tabor (Woods) of Shrewsbury, Vermont passed away from this life on June 29, 2025 at the Jack Byrne Center of Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a long and valiant battle against cancer. Alice was born in Rutland, Vermont on June 25, 1957 to Richard Woods and Agnes Woods (Aines). She attended Rutland Public Schools and graduated from Rutland High School in 1975. She is survived by her loving husband, Dane W. Tabor whom she married on June 30, 1984 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. She is also survived by her cherished daughters, Hillary and Emily (Jeff Hirsch), dear brother Rick (Margaret) Woods, doting sisters, Kathleen Allen, Nancy Caggige, Marjorie Carleton, and Dorothy DeMaria, and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and unwavering friends. She was predeceased by her loving parents and her oldest brother, Walter E. Baker.
Alice and Dane were long-time residents of Proctor, Vermont where they raised their family. They moved to the Tabor Family Farm in Shrewsbury in 2019 where they happily enjoyed life on the “hill”. She dedicated 48 years of employment at the law firm of Pratt Vreeland Kennelly Martin & White in Rutland, Vermont where she specialized in Probate Law. She had a lust for her Vermont life and many will tell you it showed on her smiling face illustrating her kind and caring soul. She had a passion for her flower gardens and took great pride in creating a loving and comfortable home for her family. She will be forever missed by her many relatives and dear friends all of whom supported her during her fight against this cruel disease. Especially her best friend, Wendy Stewart, whom she shared many trips to Massachusetts with, family vacations in Wells, Maine, Estate Sales, and Bocce League fun. She demonstrated her indomitably positive spirit until the end and will be an angel from above walking along with us all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday July 18, 2025 at 11 A.M. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rutland. There will be a celebration of life following the church service at the Tabor Family Farm in Shrewsbury. All are welcome.
