Proctor

PROCTOR                  Barbara C. Hastings., 83, of Proctor, VT, died on October 25, 2024 peacefully in her home.

Barb was born on May 13, 1941 in Gardner, MA, the daughter of Arthur and Esther (Johnson) Carll.

She graduated from Springfield College in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. Soon after, in 1964, Barb married her true love, Douglas Hastings. After working as a physical education teacher, Barb worked as a drapery seamstress for much of her life. This enabled her to stay home with her daughter Christa.

Barb enjoyed skiing at Pico Mountain and was an active member of the Pico Ski Club where she participated in the club’s programs and social events. She met many lifelong friends at the club and loved visiting with them on and off the slopes. Barb loved a good book and her frequent trips to the library, telling everyone she could that “books can be your best friend”. Barb would never pass up the opportunity for a quick card game with friends and family. She spent her summers at “camp” on Queen Lake in Phillipston, MA. She always loved a good putt-putt boat ride around the lake, but most importantly she enjoyed her time with family and friends on the waterfront.

Survivors include her grandson, Curtis Knapton; niece Meghan Harrington and her spouse, Kenneth; brother-in-law Steve Hastings and his wife, Diane; and sister-in-law Karen Hastings. She also leaves behind two cherished grand-nephews Patrick and Connor Harrington.

She was predeceased by both parents, her devoted husband Douglas and her beloved daughter Christa.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barb’s memory to Pico Ski Education Foundation.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home.
