Barbara F. Rizziere

Our beautiful Mother and Grandmother Barbara F. Rizziere, 78, joined our Father on December 18, 2021. She passed peacefully at home with her family by her side. She spent her last two weeks enjoying her Christmas decorations and visiting with her many family and friends.  She was so full of life it was hard to believe how sick she actually was.

She was born in Hartford, CT, February 23, 1943, daughter of Ollie and Florence (Vondette) Woods.

Barbara was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Church.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Peter Rizziere (Deann) of Melber, KY; 3 daughters, Laura Medlin of Rutland, Karen Chadwick (Andrew Hock) of Rutland and Khristina Rizziere (Nicholas McCardle) of Center Rutland; a brother, Richard Woods of Wyoming; a sister, Judith DiBernardo of Bellows Falls; 6 grandchildren, Lucas Medlin (Charlene), Jonathan Medlin, Dominik Chadwick, Gabrielle Chadwick, Alexandra Childs and Jillian Childs and many special nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry S. “Sam” Rizziere in 2009 and a sister, Marcia Bates.

Mom will be remembered for her courage and strength but most of all her kindness.  She was a rock, not only for her family but for anyone who entered her life.  From baking cookies to mowing the neighborhood lawns to just being a shoulder to lean on when anyone needed it, she was always there. And when she needed her rock she had Jan who we owe a special thank you for always being there when she/we needed you!

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Peter's Church at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 30, 2021 with a reception following at the Italian American Club on Grove Street.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Foley Cancer Center, 160 Allen St. Rutland, VT. 05701 the staff here held a special place in her heart.
