Brian Edward Glodzik, 51, of West Rutland, VT passed away unexpectedly at Rutland Regional Medical Center on Tuesday June 3, 2025.
He was born on April 29, 1974 in Rutland, VT, the son of Edward L. Glodzik and Anne-Marie (McKinnon) Glodzik. Brian attended West Rutland Schools and was a 1992 graduate of West Rutland High School. Following high school, he attended Lyndon State College and later transferred to Castleton State College. He was formerly employed by Kalow Technologies, Qualitad and various landscaping businesses.
An avid sports fan all his life, he played organized sports starting with Little League, school teams and adult league basketball and softball. As the son of a part-time sportswriter, he was a “gym rat” from an early age.
Brian will be remembered for his fierce loyalty to his friends, his sense of humor, giving his opinions (and defending it when others did not agree). Family was extremely important to him and although his immediate family was small, his extended family was also a big part of his life. His family is extremely proud of the fact that he is an organ and tissue donor and are hopeful that his generosity will help others.
He was predeceased by his father Edward Glodzik in 1988; as well as, his paternal grandparents Edward and Josephine Glodzik and maternal grandparents James and Dorothy McKinnon. He is survived by his mother Anne-Marie Higgins, stepfather James Higgins of West Rutland, VT; his sister and closest friend Bethany Hackwell, husband Jason, and beloved niece Julia Hackwell of Stowe, VT; stepbrother Tony Higgins, wife Garrath, and step nephew Rory Higgins of Shelburne, VT. Other survivors include his uncles James McKinnon (Gillian) of Calgary, Alberta and Louis Glodzik (Tina) of Rutland, VT; his aunts Alicia (Dan) Graves of Paxton, MA, Mary-Jane (David) Pentkowski of Clifton Park, NY and Doreen (Jospeh) Bushey of Deerfield, NY; as well as, numerous cousins and friends.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday June 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St Stanislaus Kostka Church in West Rutland with burial to follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to West Rutland School, 713 Main St, West Rutland, VT 05777 to be used for support of athletics and the continuation of The Ed Glodzik Memorial 5th and 6th Grade Basketball Tournament which is name for Brian’s Dad (please note donation is in memory of Brian).
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home.
