Cara Leigh Matt

RUTLAND    Cara Leigh Matt, 39, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on December 15, 2023, surrounded by family.

Cara was born on August 17, 1984, in Rutland, VT.

Cara will be remembered by her fun-loving nature, laughter, silliness, her sparkling smile, and the deep love for her family and friends.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Illyanna Paige Matt; sisters Diana Matt, Carie James, Jaime Matt, Shelly Spooner, Rhonda Spooner, and Dee Colburn; Her special niece Makayla White; A longtime best friend Kristin Celentano; and several nieces, nephews, and Aunts.

She is predeceased by both parents Gary and Janet Matt.

The family would like to thank the Intensive Care Unit of Rutland Regional Medical Center for the exceptional care they provided.

In honor of Cara’s life, we ask that you speak to your loved ones about the fentanyl and xylazine epidemic.

A service will be held on January 4, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Clifford Funeral Home with a celebration of life to follow at the American Legion in Rutland, VT from 2:00-4:00 pm. This will be a potluck meal, so contributions would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements were made under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home.
