CELIA ALICE KULIG
Celia Alice Kulig, 93 died March 12, 2024 at The Meadows in Rutland. She was born in West Rutland, VT on July 11, 1930, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Rzeshutek) Godleski.
She graduated from West Rutland High School, class of 1948. She married Stanley B. Kulig on October 18, 1952 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in West Rutland.
Celia was employed at Lynda Lee Fashions and at the West Rutland School Lunch Program. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and a member of the Mother’s Club. She was also a member of the West Rutland American Legion Auxiliary, The Loyal Order of the Moose of Rutland, a volunteer for years of the West Rutland High School Alumni Association and a leader in the Bone Builders of West Rutland, VT.
After taking an early retirement, she and her husband greatly enjoyed going on many of the Senior Bus Trips sponsored by the Godnick Center in Rutland. She especially enjoyed trips to the ocean and instilled that love in her children. Celia also loved to square dance but her favorite was the polka and an oberek. Celia and Stanley were marvelous on the dance floor. She was proud of her Polish Heritage and taught her children to make many Polish dishes, including the best pierogi, and the Christmas Eve Wigilia traditions.
She is survived by her sons, Paul S. Kulig and his wife, Patricia J. Kulig, of West Rutland, and Raymond P. Kulig and his wife Janet E. Kulig of West Canaan, NH and her daughter Martha A. Kulig of West Rutland, VT. She is also survived by four grandchildren Sarah Kulig (Mark Hengstler), Andrew Kulig (Ashley Enekes), Rachel Kulig (Ray Bakshi) and Hilary Hauptman (Ryan Hauptman) and three great grandchildren, Milo Kulig, Charlotte Bakshi and Bert Kulig and many nieces and nephews. Celia was predeceased by her beloved husband Stanley on May 29, 2003. She was also predeceased by her siblings Jennie Polesiak, Helen Zygo, Stanley Godleski and Julia Bruce.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 15 at 11:00 am at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in West Rutland. Officiating will be Rev. Richard Crowley. Friends and family may call at the Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home in West Rutland from 9:30 am to 10:30 am before the service. A reception will be held at the American Legion in West Rutland following the service.
