Charles W. Callahan

Charles William "Chuck" Callahan, 67, of Rutland, VT, died January 8, 2025, at home surrounded by family and friends after a long illness.

He was born October 5, 1957 in Rutland, VT, the son of the late Francis Bernard Callahan and Frances Carolyn (Gokey) Callahan. He was the oldest of 4 siblings and graduated from Black River Union High School in Ludlow, VT in 1976.

He was a machinist/metal fabricator at Mal Tool and Melanson’s in Rutland, VT. His knowledge was indescribable, was a great mentor to workers, took the time to explain what was wrong and how to correct it.

He was a lover of all things outdoors. He could often be found ice fishing or hunting with his friends and family.

He is survived by his partner and long-time caregiver, Karen Fitchett, his daughters Holly Callahan, Melissa Desabrais, numerous stepchildren, grandchildren, step grandchildren, his 3 siblings and their spouses Judith & Brian Pikkarainen, Tina & Lee Johndrow and Ian & Jenn Callahan, his stepmother, Colene (Storer) Callahan, step brother Darrel Crow & Jana (Edwards) Crow as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on January 18, 2025 at Clifford Funeral Home.
