Daphne Harrington

Daphne (Cullinan) Harrington, 92, of Belmont, VT died peacefully at home on Wednesday June 14, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Holyoke, MA September 24, 1924 the youngest child of James and Mary (Rowland) Cullinan. She was pre-deceased by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Daphne grew up in Holyoke and was a graduate of Holyoke High School (1942) and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst earning both a BA (1946) and a MA (1964) degree.
She was married in 1948 to William H. Harrington, Jr. of Amherst, MA. They shared 60 wonderful years of married life. A longtime resident of Westfield, MA, Daphne also lived in Rutland, VT and Lake Worth, FL.
Daphne was a speech pathologist in Enfield, CT and Westfield, MA retiring in 1984. She was very proud of her founding role in establishing speech and hearing services in the Westfield school system. In 1991 she moved to Belmont, VT where she enjoyed skiing and golf.
Surviving are two sons, William H. Harrington, III of South Hero, VT, James C. Harrington and his spouse Cynthia of Hollis, NH; three daughters, Jane Harrington and her spouse Susan Horsman of Belmont, VT, Daphne Harrington and her spouse Suzanne Teuteberg of Cambridge, MA and Ann Harrington of Rutland, VT. Four grandchildren, Leah and her spouse Andrew Hills, Kerri and her spouse Carl Stagg, Andrew and Kyla and her spouse Andrew Remillard, 6 great grandchildren, Jocelyn Hobart, Myles Harrington, Charlotte Hills, Stephan Hills, Coltrane Stagg and Emmett Stagg and many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her husband in 2008 and her daughter-in-law Ledora Harrington in 2015.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 20 at 10 am at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland, VT. Burial will follow in Mechanicsville Cemetery Belmont, VT.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Monday, June19.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rutland County Humane Society or to the Rutland Community Cupboard.
