David Mailhiot Sr.

West Rutland - David Mailhiot Sr. of West Rutland died on Feb 11th 2026 at home Surrounded by family after a long Illness.

David was born in Pittsford on Dec 27th 1939 to John and Cora (whittemore) Maithiot. David Attended Pittsford area schools and went on to Serve at the Vt-Army National guard for 6 years. David started his career as a logger and later was working in the Paving Industry, working for Paquette Paving, Pike Industries, and later owning and operating his own Business, Furnace Brook Paving.

David enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, NASCAR, and most of all working in his wood shop making just about anything from carvings, furniture, bird houses, wishing wells and Various other projects. David touched may lives with his thoughtfulness, kind and caring spirit. He had great Sense of humor. He delighted in sharing stories and insights drawn from his experiences.

Survivors include caretaker Dorothy Cook, son's Steve Mailhiot (Bonnie Poirier), David Mailhiot Jr. (Rose Evarts), Donald (Buddy) Mailhiot (Joyce Mailhiot) His Sister Nancy Church and niece Angela Stewart of Arizona, grandchildren - Elicia Pinsonault (Brian), Amanda Barrett, Haley Beard, Ryan De Jong, Travis DeJong (Becky), Amy Mailhiot, Kyle Mailhiot (Alex Hall), Seth Mailhiot (Jenevieve), Jared Mailhiot (Kristen), Jacob Mailhiot (Emily), David Bagley (Abby) and 14 great grandchildren.

David was predeceased by his parents John and Cora, Brother Paul, and two Daughters Carole Ann Bagley and Donna Jean DeJong

David Donated his Body For Science at UVM in Burlington so there will be no Calling hours, there will be of a graveside ceremony at a later Date at East Clarendon Cemetery in Clarendon.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to foley Cancer Center at RRMC or VT Veterans Home at 325 North St Bennington Vt.
