Dolores Harrison

Dolores (LaFrance) Harrison, 95, of Shelburne, VT, formerly of Rutland, Vt, passed away peacefully at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT on November 13, 2023.

Dolores was born on February 2, 1928. On September 17, 1951, she married the love of her life, James F. Harrison. They were married for 55 years, until his passing in 2007.  They made their home in Rutland, VT where they raised five daughters.

Dolores was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy in Rutland. She worked for over 20 years as a telephone operator and supervisor for the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company.

Dolores was strong in her Catholic faith. She loved spending time with family and friends, whether on vacations or just visiting with them. Some trips included stops at casinos to hit the slot machines. Dolores was a wonderful mom, Nana, and Grana! She doted on her family, always remembering birthdays and special occasions with gifts and phone calls. Dolores was an avid reader, crossword puzzle solver and TV Jeopardy watcher. Playing cards and board games were also favorite activities.

Dolores is survived by, and will be greatly missed by daughters Martha (Steve) Liamos, Mary Beth (Boris) Funtow, Michele (Ben) Lomaestro and Marilyn (Joe) Trapeni, grandchildren Matthew and wife Melissa, Jordan, Jessica and husband Logan, Lauren and husband Billy, Nicole, Luke, Stephen, Jared and wife Kelly, Katelyn and husband Slate, and great grandchildren Jax, Oli, Giovanni, Kessler, Kinsley and Harrison. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins on Dolores’ and her husband’s sides of the family. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Cartie (Shoro) LaFrance, and her daughter Marcia Harrison.

A Mass for Dolores will be held at Christ the King Church, 66 South Main Street, Rutland, VT on Friday (December 1, 2023) at 11:00 a.m. There will be no calling hours. A gathering for family and friends will take place in the church hall following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the spring in Shelburne, VT.

Special thanks go out to the staff in the cardiac unit on Miller 4 at the UVM Medical Center for taking such good care of our mother, keeping her comfortable during her short hospital stay.
