Donald was known for “being a man of his word” in business.

Donald P. Quirk, 81, of Rutland Town passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on September 15, 2026. Donald was born in Rutland Town on December 3, 1944, the son of Philip and Catherine (Jaworski) Quirk. 

Donald was a graduate of Rutland High School and New Hampshire Tech. He also served in the Vermont National Guard. Donald spent the past 58 years as owner and operator of Quirk Brothers Excavating with his brother John, who passed away in 2015. Donald was known for “being a man of his word” in business, and together with John they built a highly reputable excavating company. In his spare time, Donald loved following his Boston Red Sox or listening to his favorite musical artists. Donald was an avid animal lover and over the years owned many dogs including Jamie, Molly and Stella.

Donald is survived by his nephews Michael Quirk of Rutland, VT; John Quirk Jr of Williston, VT; nieces Kathleen Goodrich of Ruland, VT; Deborah Quirk of Rutland, VT and Sharon Quirk of Rutland, VT. He is predeceased by his brother John Quirk and his sister-in-law Irene Quirk.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday September 28th, 2026, from 4pm to 6pm at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday September 29th, 2026, at 11am at Christ the King Church, with Burial at Calvary to follow. A reception will be held following services.
