Donald T. Sharon RUTLAND TOWN — Donald T. Sharon, 88, of Rutland Town passed away on November 14, 2023, at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Rutland on April 24, 1935, the son of Chester T. Sharon and Doris (Priest) Sharon. He married the love of his life Patricia Nerney in Danby, Vermont at the Holy Trinity Church in 1959. Donald was an Eagle Scout, graduated from Rutland High School in 1953, and obtained many degrees through Navy schooling. He was enlisted in the United States Navy for four years. He traveled the globe during his time and loved to tell stories of his Navy years. He was an Engineer at IBM for over thirty years. He traveled the United States educating others and developing the technology we all use today. During his retirement, he resided in Danby, Vermont. He served on the Danby School Board. He worked at EC Crosby and Son helping many people find their way through home projects and their work day. He was known for his helping hand and kindness to all that came his way. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Lake St. Catherine Country Club and The Lakes Country Club in Boiling Spring Lakes, NC. He spent many years bringing his children and grandchildren to Yankee Stadium creating unforgettable memories. He enjoyed going on long walks and hikes. Most of all he loved sharing his knowledge with family and friends. He was a man of few words but when he spoke he was the wisest man alive. He brought a warmth to this world that won’t be forgotten. He is survived by his wife Patricia of 64 loving years, son Donald T. Sharon II and his wife Stacy Sharon, daughters Mary Ellen Csizmesia and her husband Terry Csizmesia, Holly Carrara and husband Derek Carrara and grandchildren Jessica Sharon, Leigh Ann Trent, Patty Ann Holden, Kyle Csizmesia, Donald T Sharon III, Thomas Sharon, Paige Carrara, Caleb Carrara, Faith Carrara and Jamie Jensen. His sister Mary Lou Lane from Key West, Florida, and many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson Shane Csizmesia, his brother Gary Sharon, and his sister Annette Barbour. A graveside service will be held at 11am Saturday, April 27, 2024, in the Danby Scottsville Cemetery weather permitting. Memorial contributions can be made to the Rutland Food Shelf, 45 Union St., Rutland, VT 05701 Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home.
