Rutland – Donna Mae Hogan, 82, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, December 7, 2023. She was a resident of The Maples in Rutland.
Donna was born in Ripton, Vermont on March 3, 1941, the daughter of Donald and Rena (Sturgeon) Dragon. She moved to Burlington, Vermont as a young girl and attended Cathedral High School. She married William S. “Butch” Hogan on June 17, 1961, who predeceased Donna on July 30, 2004. Donna was predeceased by her brothers, Donald, Edson “Ed”, and Franklin “Frank.”
Donna and her family moved to Rutland, Vermont in 1969. She and Butch were members of Immaculate Heart of Mary church, the Rutland Elks lodge, and were founding members of the Rutland Amateur Hockey Association (RAHA). Donna was employed with Vermont Grocers Association (VGA) where she worked as an administrator and event coordinator organizing the VGA’s annual convention, legislative day, ski, and golf events. She was recognized as the VGA’s, ”2012 Person of the Year”, for her many years of commitment and contribution.
Donna was mother to Scott and his wife Mary Patricia of Rutland, Vermont, her son Patrick of Richmond, Rhode Island, and her son Brian and his wife Jennifer of Clarendon, Vermont. Donna was devoted to her family and friends. However, she will be remembered most for the love and admiration she had for her grandchildren Myles, Henry, Liam, and Jillian.
Calling hours with the family are scheduled for Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 10:00-11:30 at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland, Vermont followed by a mass at 12:00 at Christ the King Church in Rutland. A private burial service will be held at a later date for immediate family.
The family wants to express their gratitude to The Maples for the loving community that Donna enjoyed the past two years of her life. In lieu of flowers, Donna asked that memorial contributions be made to the Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice of the Southwest Region in recognition of their dedication and compassionate care.
