WALLINGFORD Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Bersaw, 91, died peacefully on March 9, 2024, at The Pines of Rutland, after a brief stay that was spent surrounded by family and loved ones.
Elizabeth was born on November 11, 1932 in Colchester, VT, the daughter of Harry and Elaine (Bean) Ravenscroft.
She was a 1951 graduate of Cathedral High School in Burlington. Elizabeth was a Supermom who raised her four daughters and a household full of pets. She then was employed as a bookkeeper for Joseph J. Marotti Company for many years before devoting her later years to help care for her two granddaughters.
Elizabeth had an incredible love for gardening. Her gardens were her pride and joy, and visitors would often find themselves taking home a bouquet of lilies, irises, or peonies at her insistence. She enjoyed cooking her family recipes, birdwatching at her many birdfeeders, bowling with her league, and admiring antique Cadillacs.
For nearly every summer since she was a teenager, she vacationed in Wells Beach, ME with family, and she has imparted a special love for this place onto each of her loved ones.
She was very artistic and loved to craft, paint, and sew. She loved spending time with her grandchildren who kept her young; and she loved all of her cats, dogs, horses, and birds she had throughout her life.
Elizabeth would want to be remembered for her fierce and genuine love for her family, unwavering ability to speak her mind, and her sparkling blue eyes.
Survivors include her daughters Joy (Guy) Loso of Live Oak, FL, Elizabeth Marotti
of Wallingford, Linda (Scott) Gallipo of Pittsford, and Pamela (Jay Webster) Marotti of
Shrewsbury; grandchildren Ryan Gallipo of Pittsford, Kyle Gallipo of Pittsford, Maia (Kyle) Melen of Apex, NC, and Lindsay (Chris Cubellis) Plesent of Los Angeles, CA; and great-granddaughter Layla Gallipo.
She is predeceased by her parents and her husband Richard Bersaw.
The family would like to sincerely thank Bayada Hospice for their kindness and unending support for both Elizabeth and her loved ones.
Betty Boop, we love you so and you will forever be with us in our hearts.
A burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colchester, VT, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rutland County Humane Society located at 765 Stevens Rd., Pittsford, VT 05763.
Arrangements were made under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home.
