Ellen Jean-Joseph

Ellen E. Jean-Joseph, age 65, of Rutland, passed away at her home on May 26th, 2026. She was born on January 4th, 1961, in Ridgewood, New Jersey, to Frederick and Jane (Madden) Roberts. Ellen spent many years in Westport, Trumbull, and Bridgeport, CT, but also enjoyed her time growing up in Ridgewood, NJ, and with family in Vermont.

Ellen earned her Master’s Degree from Allegheny College and dedicated her life to education, becoming a beloved teacher to a countless number of children. She excelled in her career and was deeply valued by both her colleagues, students and anyone who got the chance to learn from her. Outside of work, Ellen enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, watching tennis, and card games. 

Her most cherished moments were when she could spend time with her family and inspire through teaching.

She is survived by her sons, Ryan Jean-Joseph and Jon Jean-Joseph; her siblings, Thomas (Winny Rush) Roberts, Lynn (Jim) McNulty, Beth (Brian) Fox, Carol Ricketts, and Larry (Sondra) Roberts; her former husband, Frantz Jean-Joseph; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Jane Roberts.

In accordance with Ellen’s wishes, there will be no public services at this time.
