Ethel Louise Ready

Ethel Louise Ready (Lou), 83, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2022, at her residence, Meadows at East Mountain in Rutland Vermont.

She was born in Brighton, MA, October 13, 1938, the daughter of Edwin W. and Helen L. (Sousa) Ready.

She is survived by her sister Kathleen Ready of Hinsdale, NH, brother James Ready and his wife Joan of Dighton, MA and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother William Ready and her dearest friend and longtime companion, Judy Swartz. Lou will be greatly missed by Judy’s Daughters, Randi Ray, Sandi Swartz and their family.

Ethel was a graduate of Wayne State University with a degree in physical education. She taught in both Detroit, MI and LA California. She held a Chauffer Card and drove a Checker Marathon cab for over 30 years in Salt Lake City Utah. She enjoyed adventuring across the country with Judy in her 1978 convertible MG. Lou and Judy were Girl Scout camp instructors for many summer seasons.

Local arrangements are with Clifford’s Funeral Home, Rutland, VT. A burial service is to be determined at a later date in Taunton, MA. We would like any memorial contributions to be made to Meadows at East Mountain, Special Care Unit.
