Rutland – Freda Mae Wood

Freda Mae Wood 93, died April 6, 2025 at Mountain View Center in Rutland.

She was born July 11, 1931 in Poultney the daughter of Walter Van Guilder and Helen (Houge) Van Guilder.

Freda Attended local Schools in Poultney.

She loved dancing, she said that the day she could not dance would be the day she would admit to being old!, She also loved bingo, playing cards, going to the Casino, going for rides with her daughter Janice and talking about the days when she lived on the farm on Poultney. Her favorite saying when she met someone was (My name is Freda Mae Wood – Freda Mae do whatever she wants to, and Freda Wood if she could).

Survivors are her children, Janice Osgood, Gina Morrill, Gary Wood, Wayne Wood. Also by several grandchildren and several great grandchildren, by her sisters, Elizabeth Bannister and Mary Baptie.

She was predeceased by her parents and  by  her husband Richard Wood, by her sons David and George Sparks, by her brothers, Leonard, Walter and William Van Guilder, also by her sisters, Edna Carvey and Sylvia Pollard.

Private Graveside services will be held at a later date in East Clarendon Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
