Gladys E Fodor

RUTLAND     Gladys E. Fodor, 90, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023, at her daughters home in Rutland Town after a period of declining health.

Gladys was born December 24, 1932, in Rutland, VT the daughter of Vincent and Maud {Doner} Elkey. Gladys grew up and lived in Rutland her entire life and was a member of ST. Peter Church. She worked at Rutland Regional Medical Center for 36 years.

Gladys was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, whose greatest joy in life was her family.

In her retirement, she delighted in spending much of her free time with her grandchildren. She so enjoyed attending their many school and sporting events as well as vacationing with them in Maine. Her unending love and selflessness will never be forgotten. Her generous spirit was not exclusive to her immediate family. She was always quick to offer help and to show love to friends, neighbors and to her many nieces and nephews throughout her life.

Gladys was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband John Fodor, her brothers, Vincent {Buck} Elkey, John Elkey, her sisters, Lucy Green, Zoe Krakowka, Ellen Everest, Evelyn Peryer, Earline Page, her daughter in law Donna Stevens, and her son in law Kevin Whitaker.

She is survived by her daughter, Alice Whitaker, her son, Vincent Stevens, stepson Stephen Fodor, her Grandchildren, Theresa Stevens, John Whitaker, Joseph Whitaker, Jacob Whitaker, and Great Grandson, Odin Stevens.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Patty Merrill of VNA and Hospice for her kindness and for her compassionate loving care given to Gladys.

Funeral services will be held Thursday December 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peters Church in Rutland.
