Gloria Duchscherer

October 19, 1953 — October 23, 2024

Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, Vt. -  Gloria “Glo” Duchscherer, 71, of Wallingford, died on October 23, 2024 at the Foley Cancer Center at Rutland Regional Medical Center after a long illness.

She was born on October 19, 1953 to Madelyn Crouch and Robert Wisell and was raised in the family by her aunt, Marie Ryan. A graduate of Rutland High School, Glo worked for many years as a Delivery Driver for UPS. She was briefly married to Henry Duchscherer.

Although she faced many health challenges, Glo lived a quiet but vibrant life at the Wallingford House in Wallingford, Vermont, surrounded and loved by many friends and neighbors who gravitated toward her sense of humor and appreciation of the little things.

She adored her cat, “Big Guy” who was lovingly spoiled and often the beneficiary of her excellent cooking. She was an avid reader of all genres and her home was filled with dog-eared books of all kinds. She was particularly dedicated to her bible and nourished a pure spiritual devotion. And I task you to find anyone who knew as much about “Gunsmoke” as she did.

Glo was fiercely devoted to family and was the lynchpin of the various family lines, bringing cousins and siblings together with sheer tenacity. She spoke on the phone each and every day with many family members, usually prepared with a detailed weather report or some worthy news story.

She is survived by her aunt, Shirley Sisson of Portsmouth, NH; brothers, Thomas Cannata of Ocala, FL, Mark Huntley of Cavendish, VT, and Wes Dikeman (Donna) of Jonesboro, TN; her sister Kim Patterson (Kirby) of Mesa, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother, Madelyn Crouch Hewitt; her aunt, Marie Ryan; her aunt, Jean Stevens; her aunt, Kay Greeno; her uncle, Tommy Crouch; her brother, David LaBlanc; and her nephew Spencer Huntley.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 12 noon to 2 pm at Clifford Funeral Home.
