Halle Jane Loomis, 63, of Rutland, died on January 13, 2025, at Mountain View Genesis Center with her sister by her side.
Halle was born on February 7, 1961, in Milford, CT, the daughter of Harold C. Loomis Jr. and Theo Jane Gammie.
She was God's perfect child. She exceeded all expectations of a Downs Syndrome child, living an independent life with the support of Mary Waldvogel until her early onset dementia diagnosis. She won a gold medal at the National Special Olympics in 1975, for freestyle swimming. She worked at Price Chopper until retiring in 2014. Halle will always be remembered for the joy and love she shared with everyone she met.
Survivors include her mother, Theo Jane Gammie of Danbury, CT; sister Nancy E. Lyman of Rutland, VT; brothers David J. Loomis (Leslie) of N. Attleboro, MA, and Peter G. Loomis (Nora) of Hinesburg, VT; and two nieces and two nephews.
Halle was predeceased by her father, Harold C. Loomis Jr.; sister Faith M. Havens; nephew Casey J. Havens; brother-in-law Francis J. Lyman; and Grandmother Edith M. Loomis.
A special thank you to her caregivers Jane Trepanier and Sheila Dockum and to the angels at Mountain View Genesis Center where Halle lived since March 2018.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Silver Towers; sent to the President of Silver towers, Brian Gaura at 241 Lincoln Ave., Rutland, VT 05701.
Calling hours are from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Clifford Funeral Home where a representative of the Christian Science Church will provide a reading at 2:45 p.m.
