Helen Hagopian Geovjian

March 16, 1928 — January 13, 2017

Helen Hagopian Geovjian, 88, passed away Jan. 13, 2017, at The Meadows at East Mountain in Rutland, Vermont.
She was born on March 16, 1928, the daughter of Thomas and Siranoush (Bahadourian) Hagopian. She spent the first 55 years of her life raising her family and pursuing her career in the gift shop industry in and around Birmingham, Michigan.
She moved to Rutland, Vermont, to be closer to family and worked, first at The Inn of the Six Mountains, then at the Cortina Inn. She considered Bob and Breda Harnish to be not only her best employers, but also very dear friends. She was a member of the Friends of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra for many years.
Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Geovjian, of East Wallingford, Vermont, and Mark Geovjian, of Williamston, Michigan; along with nieces and nephews in California, Massachusetts, Connecticut and London. Of special mention is her treasured friend, Martha Baker, as well as her grandchildren, Ben and Shawn Geovjian Crowley. In Gram's eyes, they could do no wrong. In return, they called her the "world's most beautiful Gram."
Helen enjoyed gardening, cooking and entertaining. She valued the loyalty of friends, a good joke and the warmth and comfort of her close family. She was the life of every party, making friends easily with her sense of humor and sometimes sparkly, often prickly, personality. Her arms and her home were always open to her many friends, new and old. If you met her, you remembered her. Her favorite things to do were always in the company of her grandchildren, from trips to Devils Bowl Speedway to tea parties at midnight.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Geovjian, and her two older brothers, Charles Uligian and Louis Hagopian.
There will be no services. Contributions in her memory may be made to The Sunshine Fund at The Meadows. She would like it known that her final years were made comfortable by the kindness of the staff at The Meadows, as well as the wisdom and friendship of Dr. Bruce Bullock.
Arrangements are by the Clifford Funeral Home.
