Jay Donald Cross, 91, died Thursday December 22, 2016 at Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington.

He was born June 25, 1925, in Syracuse, NY, son of J. I. Cross and Florence Millard Cross.

He graduated from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY.

Mr. Cross was a retired Major and Veteran in the US Air Force.
He was a Professor at Syracuse University and was also employed as an engineer for General Dynamics in San Diego, CA and New London, CT.

Jay was a member of Holy Name Community Catholic Chapel, Masonic Lodge and Rutland American Legion Post 31 and the GOP.

Surviving are his wife Joan (Hibbard) Cross of Rutland, his daughters, Sandy Rosell of Sweden, Lynn Eriksson of Sweden, Lee Elrod of Colorado and Wendy Dorsey of Fredericksburg, VA.

He was predeceased by his sister Jeanne Cross.

Funeral services will be held at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland at 1 pm on Friday December 30, 2016.

Burial will be held at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
