John J. LaVecchia

John J. LaVecchia, 93, of Rutland and Washington, D.C. died at Rutland Regional Medical Center on November 10, 2016.

Born in Rutland on September 22, 1923, he was the son of Angelo and Mary (Smiel) LaVecchia.

He was a 1941 graduate of MSJ. While in Rutland he was a member of St. Peter’s Church.

John was a big fan of spectator sports and was an avid tennis enthusiast. He was a federal employee throughout his career and retired as a Congressional Liaison Officer in the Air Force’s Office of Legislative Liaison in the Pentagon.

He was predeceased by ten sisters and a brother. Mrs Rose (LaVecchia) Maffie, of Bellows Falls, VT; Mrs. Victoria (LaVecchia) Pisanelli, of Rutland; Mrs. Mary (LaVecchia) Pisanello of Toms River, NJ; Mrs. Christine (LaVecchia) Alligood of New York, NY; Madeline, Elizabeth, Ruth, Margaret, Angeline and Loretta LaVecchia, and Nicholas LaVecchia; and several beloved nieces and cousins.

Calling house will be from 5 to 7pm on Monday, November 14th in the Clifford Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday November 15, 11 am at St. Peter’s Church.

A burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
