Joseph Correia III

March 25, 1949 — December 22, 2025

Danby

Joseph J. Correia III, age 76 of Danby, VT, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Mountain View Center in Rutland, VT, after a prolonged illness. He was born March 25, 1949, in Pawtucket, RI, a son of the late Joseph J. Correia II and Evelyn Hetu Correia.

Joe lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He was known to many simply as “Papa Joe” or “Fuzzy”—a testament to the deep affection and respect he inspired in all who knew him. Joe had a heart of gold and was always just a phone call away, ready to lend a hand, or a listening ear.

For over 25 years, Joe worked at General Electric, where he worked as a machinist. Joe loved music, coffee, and his family and friends. He was a member of The Brick Church and found joy in both his church family and playing in music during worship.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his uncle and aunt, Richard “Dick” Horan Sr. and Lucille Hetu Horan. He was also preceded in death by his two cousins, Richard Horan Jr. and Linda Horan Hatter. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nora Bell Correia; one son, Joshua Correia (Richard Johnson) of Portland, Oregon; two daughters, Heather Caetano (Luis Caetano) of Cambridge, Ontario and Joy Hart (Jeffrey Hart) of Watertown, Connecticut; 5 grandchildren, Cole Brueckner, Kaelin Brueckner, Connor Brueckner, Maeve Hart, Declan Hart; cousins, Steven Horan Sr., Kathleen Koperna, Timothy Horan, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.

A celebration of life will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hetzel Missions to Uganda, a cause close to Joe's heart. Donations can be made to The Brick Church in Clarendon, VT with Hetzel Missions in the memo.
