Joseph A. Smith WEST RUTLAND — Joseph (Smitty) Albert Smith, 81, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born in West Rutland, Vt. April 23,1942 to Lloyd and Natalie (Sienicki) Smith. Joseph lived his whole life in West Rutland, a long time member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. He loved walking and visiting everyone around the downtown area. He was very lucky when he played 45 with the boys at the legion, scratch-off tickets or betting on horses at the fair. He loved helping everyone, doing odd jobs around the town and helping Franny Holland make deliveries. He was always a happy go lucky guy who would put a smile on your face every time. Joe is survived by his sister-in-law Ginny (Richard) Smith of Rapid City, SD., 3 neices Christine (Roscoe) Jones, Darlene Horton of Vermont and Peggy McNeil of Castlerock, CO.; 2 nephews, Ronald Smith (Carol) of Hopewell, VA., Donald Smith of Rapid City, SD.; 5 great neices, 4 great nephews and 3 great-great nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Natalie Smith, 3 brothers, Francis, Thomas, Richard, a sister Dolores Horton and a nephew, Francis Horton. Calling Hours will be held from 4 pm to 6pm Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home in West Rutland. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 am Thursday,February 22, 2024 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in West Rutland. Arrangements are under the direction of Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home.
