Joseph J. Turner, Jr.

WEST RUTLAND     Joseph J. Turner Jr. 76, of West Rutland passed away at University Medical Center on November 12, 2023, with his wife at his side.

He was born on April 9, 1947, in Proctor, the son of Joseph J. Turner Sr. and Frances (O’Bara) Turner.

He was a 1965 graduate of West Rutland High School.

Joseph joined the Army National Guard in 1966.

Joseph married Kathleen (Golfin) at St. Peters Church in 1969.

He worked as a carpenter for many years and then as a Grocery Clerk at Hannaford until his retirement.

Joseph enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, Miami Dolphins, hunting, and fishing.

He was a member of St. Peters Church and the American Legion Post 50 in Castleton.

He is Survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen, sister Jeanette Seward (Tom) of Center Rutland, Sister-in-law Coleen Elnicki (Mike) of Pittsford, brother-in-law Gary Golfin (Tammy) of Castleton, mother-in-law Shirley Golfin of N. Clarendon, and serval nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by both parents, and his sister Louise Godnick in 2014.

There will be no services at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rutland County Humane Society at 765 Stevens Rd, Pittsford VT 05763. Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home.
