Joyce Audrey Jones

Joyce Audrey Jones (née Rickard) of Shrewsbury VT left this Earth on February 11th, 2024. She was 89 years of age, born March 19th, 1934 in Hanson, MA.

Joyce found purpose in her life by helping people and animals alike. She showed dedication as a counselor working with recovering alcoholics and addicts (at Serenity House , Wallingford VT and the Fellowship Club Rutland VT).
Joyce had a  great love and compassion for animals great and small, especially cats. She was an artist, writer and collector, specifically of coins and guns. She was a fierce lifetime cribbage and scrabble player, and was deeply proud of her ancestral roots in the Scottish Highlands.
Joyce spent her childhood between the east and west coast, becoming faithfully drawn to the ocean, regardless of where it was. Seeing Joyce close her eyes and listen to the waves lap at the sand, you might think you were watching a parishioner in silent prayer at church. Through her years driving coast to coast, she developed a fascination and adoration for cars, especially her classic Mercedes-Benz.
Above all, Joyce was funny and wickedly smart. She had a childlike curiosity and imagination, and an unmatched love for her family that grew with every year that passed.
Joyce is predeceased by her husbands Louis Corbeels and Richard Lastowski, brother “Skip” Struthers, mother Beatrice Struthers, step-father “Jack” Struthers, and daughter, Jody Corbeels. She is survived by two daughters, Meredith Muse and Leslie Greene, grandson Pheylan Martin, granddaughter Christina Hunt and two great grandchildren Paisley and Sterling, as well as her longtime best friend, Cathy Fondrk.
Joyce will be buried with her first husband, Louis , as well as her grandparents Harry and Ida Ferris, and her great grandparents Esson and Mary Baker, in Hanson MA.
A celebration of life will be held at 2PM, March 16,2024 at the Wild Fern, 1703 rt.100 N, Stockbridge, VT. All are welcome.  In lieu of flowers please make donations in her honor to the Rutland County Humane Society.
