Juliette Kapitan

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Juliette Marie Kapitan, who passed away on January 3rd 2024 at the age of 41 from a year long battle with Breast Cancer. Juliette was born on April 5th 1982 in Rutland Vermont to mother Gay Elizabeth Cox and father Doug Kapitan.

Juliette graduated from West Rutland High School and went on to pursue a degree in communications with a minor in journalism at Keene State. She had started working towards getting her masters degree in English at UMass Dartmouth. Juliette had many jobs in her lifetime but some of her most recent were working for The Vermont country store, freelance writing for The Mountain Times,A legal assistant at Windham law, and assistant inn keeper at Echo Lake Inn.

Juliette was funny, smart, and carefree. A Gypsy soul. She Loved fast and hard. She could make friends anywhere and with anyone. she went through life full speed never looking back. She gave advice but never liked to take it.She had so many talents but her greatest was being auntie to her nephew Emerson. She also had a love for stuff. Free stuff, old stuff or just straight junk. She loved traveling and going to music festivals. She also loved to paint and make tie dye.

Juliette is survived by her family Gay Cox (mother), Greg Cox (step father), Doug Kapitan (father) Abigail Swafford (sister), and Avery Cox. Also survived by her aunts Laurie Kapitan, Deb Spencer,and Mary Harris. Her uncle Julius Kapitan. And her cousins David Sadowski, Jessica Fredette Jefferey Sadowski, Skip Shewell, Mathew Kapitan, Benjamin Kapitan, Kate Cramer, Christine Watkins, and Ronald JR Harris.

A private gathering will be held for family and close friends this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Rutland Humane Society in Juliette’s honor.
