Rutland

Rutland   Katrina Carris, affectionately known as K-Rock, passed away peacefully in her home on August 1, at the age of 74. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Lindsay Smith, and her wife Ellie Erickson (Austin, TX); her brother, Bill Carris, and his wife Barbara; many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family; her stepson, Kenneth Truhan, and his wife Heather (Denver, CO); and her dear kitten, Kitty Kat.

Born and raised in Rutland, Katrina was celebrated for her infectious laugh, generous spirit, and thoughtful gift-giving. She loved deeply and shared her joy with everyone around her, always finding the good in people and the world.

Katrina's passions included sharing her favorite music, particularly Bob Dylan, sailing on Lake Champlain with her husband Tom, and serving as a surrogate mother to all of Lindsay's friends. Her commitment to social justice was unwavering, and she was a staunch advocate for LGBTQ rights and women's reproductive freedom.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Pressly; her sister, Anne Carris; and her parents, Henry and Helen Carris.

Katrina's legacy of generosity, joy, and compassion continues to inspire and comfort all who knew her. Effortlessly the life of the party, she is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by those she touched.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday August 8, 2024 from 4 to 7PM at Clifford Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home.
