Kerry G. Spradlin

Kerry Glen Spradlin, 62, of Rutland, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at his home with his wife at his side.
He was born in Keyes, Oklahoma, Oct. 29, 1954, the son of Wright and Marion Belle (Hill) Spradlin.
Kerry was a graduate of Oklahoma University, he received a bachelor's degree in Geography, a master's degree in Journalism and a Juris Doctrate Degree, admitted to the bar in 1984.
From 1984 to 1989, he was a practicing attorney in Hugo, Muskogee, Shawnee and Oklahoma City. In 1989, he moved to Bennington, VT, and worked as an associate for six years before opening a law practice with his first wife in 1996. Kerry was a solo practitioner concentrating on juvenile law since 2000 and had done so until December 2016 due to ill health.
Kerry enjoyed history, especially the Victorian and Civil War periods. He enjoyed reading, completing N.Y. Times crossword puzzles, watching old movies, taking long walks with his wife, Saratoga horse racing and long drives in his Miata convertible.
Surviving are his loving wife, Gail O'Brien, of Rutland; his mother, Marion Spradlin, of Lindale, TX; a brother, Jim Spradlin and his wife, Carol Campbell, of Canton, TX; two sisters, Carolyn Bednar, of Tulsa, OK, and Brenda Hicks and her husband, Curt, of Little Elm, TX; stepsons Gavin O'Brien, of Jamaica Plain, MA, Sean O'Brien and his wife, Emily, of Salem, CT; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father and by his first wife, Kathleen DeVeaux.
Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
