RUTLAND  Kevin Richard Flynn, 64 , of Rutland, passed away suddenly at his home on June 3, 2024.

Kevin was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts on April 18, 1960 to Richard and Irene (Daignault) Flynn. Kevin spent most of his life in Rutland, attending Rutland High School.

For years Kevin worked as a bartender at the Sirloin Saloon Steakhouse in Rutland. With his outgoing personality and humorous anecdotes he was a favorite with Sirloin Saloon’s clientele and always strived to make the “purrr-fect” drink.

After the Sirloin Saloon closed in 2008, Kevin being a single dad, could not stay unemployed for long. Soon after, he was hired by the Rutland Price Chopper in the fish department. Much like his time behind the bar at the Sirloin Saloon, Kevin was always engaging with his “seafood patrons”.

Over the years Kevin took up fishing, traveling all over Vermont with his buddy Steve. They had many memorable fishing adventures, that included Kevin falling out of the boat or frequently having his “unattended” fishing rod yanked out of the boat. Despite these mishaps, Kevin became a good fisherman, as evidenced by the many photos of him posing with the day’s catch.

As a life-long New Englander, Kevin was a loyal Celtics and Red Sox fan and frequently made it a priority to see the Red Sox at Fenway Park on opening day.

Kevin is survived by his son, Dylan Flynn of Rutland, brothers David (Linda) Flynn of Chittenden, Dennis (Sabrina) Flynn of Aurora, Colorado, Mark (Darcy) Flynn of Parker, Colorado; sister Pat (James) Rodgers of West Rutland; granddaughters Kaia Veronica and Roux Lavender Flynn and their mother, Casey Hayes of Rutland. He also leaves behind a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. His spirit and friendly demeanor will be greatly missed.

A burial of Kevin’s ashes will take place at Evergreen Cemetary at 11:30 on August 14, 2024 , followed by a Celebration of Life at the American Legion in West Rutland, Vt.
