Kevin M. Sheehy

Kevin M. Sheehy, 74, a distinguished international businessman from Rutland, passed away at his residence on January 31, 2024.

He was born on November 19th, 1949, the cherished son of James J. and Naomi (Mungall) Sheehy, originally from Springfield, Massachusetts, and spent his formative years in Proctor.

Kevin was a proud alumnus of Proctor High School (Class of 1968), Mount Assumption Institute in Plattsburgh, New York (Class of 1969), and St. Joseph College in Bennington (Class of 1971).

On May 5, 1973, he exchanged vows with his beloved college sweetheart, Patricia Lafley, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Their enduring love and partnership spanned five decades.

Kevin began his professional journey in sales and insurance before embarking on a successful career in the electrical insulation industry. He held pivotal roles at U.S. Samica Corp. in Rutland and Von Roll Isola in Zurich, Switzerland, eventually assuming the role of CEO in North America, overseeing operations that included a plant in Rutland. He was later appointed as CEO in North America for IsoVolta, an Austrian-owned company.

In 1997, Kevin established his own international consulting firm in Rutland, specializing in divestitures, management transitions, and distribution strategies.

Kevin was a life member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers), EASA (Electrical Apparatus Service Association).

In 2015, Kevin and his family established ForeFront Equine & Canine supplements. He was particularly passionate about imparting his entrepreneurial wisdom and leadership acumen to his family members, all while contributing to the welfare of the animals he held dear.

Kevin traversed the world for business, often accompanied by his family. Yet, he always made time to support his children, Justin and Courtney, at their sporting events, concerts, and other significant milestones.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Kevin found joy in outdoor activities such as deer hunting, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and golfing, relishing the camaraderie shared with family and friends. He was a devoted member of the Rutland Country Club for four decades and previously affiliated with the Rutland Elks Club.

Kevin leaves behind his adoring wife, Patti, and their two children: son, Justin M. Sheehy, and his wife, Jodie M. of Chittenden and daughter, Courtney S. Carrara, and her husband, Robert of Rutland Town. He also leaves a legacy through his three beloved grandchildren: Stella P. Carrara of Rutland Town, Lennon E. Sheehy, and Maeve J. Sheehy of Chittenden,

Surviving him is his sister, Kathleen S. Hart, and her husband, Thomas J. Hart, of Newton, Massachusetts, along with their daughter Kathleen and Andrew Rollauer of Needham, Massachusetts, and their daughters, Paige and Fiona.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, James (2018), and mother, Naomi (2021).

A Memorial Service honoring Kevin's remarkable life will be held on Sunday, May 19, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., words of remembrance beginning at 3:15 at the Rutland Country Club, located at 275 Grove Street.
