Funeral services for Lee Ryan, 89, of Rutland who died December 17, 2023 will be held Tuesday April 9, 2024 at 1:00pm at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with a reception to follow.

Lee was born Leona Lillian Reid on August 17, 1934 to Lewis Reid and Ina (Every) Reid in Gardiner, NY. She grew up in Castleton, VT and graduated from Fair Haven Union High School in 1952. She was a member of the varsity cheerleading squad.

She married Charles (Eddie) Ryan on June 25, 1955 in Castleton, VT. After 16 years, they divorced on June 25, 1971.

She was pre-deceased by a sister, Clarissa Reid (1984), a brother, Latus Reid (2020), three half brothers, John (Jack) Ploss (2010), Richard Ploss (2015), and James Ploss (2019), a half sister, Charlotte Brown (1991), a daughter, Debbie Jean Abbott (2002) and a granddaughter, Krista Hier (1975).

Lee loved spending time in the garden, indoor decorating and socializing with family and friends. She was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. auxiliaries of Rutland and volunteered many hours of her time at both.

She was a woman always on the go until her diagnoses with dementia and later with Parkinson’s.

She is survived by a son, Scott (Calinda) Ryan of Shrewsbury, four daughters, Laurieann Stevens and Donna Ryan of Rutland, Lisa (Dale) Pettis of West Haven, and Kelly (Theodore) Stacy of Bethel, also by a half sister, Elizabeth (Bette) Salmi-Morgan of Florida, a half brother Lemuel Ploss of Maryland, 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
