Rutland – Marie Franceis DuBray

Marie F. DuBray, 77, died Wednesday May 28, 2025, at The Pines in Rutland surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 23, 1947, the oldest daughter of Philip S. and Evelina M. (Benware) Baird.

Marie was a graduate of Rutland High School and the College of St. Joseph in Rutland. After retiring from General Electric Co in 2011, she embarked on another career path at the Community College of Vermont.

Marie was a member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church and the Red Hat Society.  Crossword puzzles, sudoku, baking (and of course sampling) cheesecakes and acting were just some of the things she enjoyed. Marie was an avid knitter who passed on the knitting bug to one of her grand-daughters and could often be found with a project covering her knees on a cold winter night. As well as her forays into acting with the Marble Valley Players, including her notable interpretation of the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland where she wholeheartedly delivered the famous “Off with their heads!”, Marie loved to read and shared her love of reading to spark future generations’ imagination and love of reading as a volunteer reader at Northwest Elementary School. She thoroughly enjoyed her time as Gramma and Mimi to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. And to keep up with all of them she was a regular in the bone builders class. She will be remembered and missed dearly.

She is survived by her son Scott DuBray, of North Charlestown, SC; 2 daughters, Michele Seibou, of Niamey, Niger and Brandy Wohner, of Harrington Park, NJ; her brother David Baird, of North Clarendon; her sister Vickie Moore, of Rutland; her 12 beloved grandchildren: Alaura, Aimee, Alyssa, Laraiba, Ava, Chase, Ebadallah, Karch, Brendan, Hassana, Ousseina and Hassane and 5 treasured great-grandchildren: Landon, Caden, Mallory, Maren and Ryann; her Aunt Ruth Brown, of South Glens Fall, NY; and several cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents and a brother Douglas Baird.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Allan Eisemann, the Rutland Regional Medical Center and The Pines for their care during her illness.
