Marie Wysolmerski

April 7, 1925 — November 30, 2025

Leesburg, VA

Marie Amelia (Socinski) Wysolmerski, 100, passed away surrounded by the love of her family at the home of her daughter in Leesburg, VA on Sunday, November 30, 2025.Marie was born in West Rutland, Vermont on April 7, 1925, to Kazimierz “Charles” and Janina “Jane” (Pifko) Socinski.

She, along with her sister Irene, were raised in a close-knit and caring household. Marie carried those early values with her throughout her life. She enjoyed a strong family connection with her two uncles Valentine and Rev. Lucien Socinski, and two aunts Stefania and Leocadia Socinski. Marie attended St. Stanislaus Kostka School in West Rutland and graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in Rutland in 1942. She continued her education at the Bishop DeGoesbriand Hospital School of Nursing in Burlington, VT, where she earned her degree in 1945.

Marie married the love of her life Joseph Wysolmerski, also from West Rutland, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church on August 22, 1949. They lived in Rutland briefly where Joseph practiced law before eventually settling in McLean, VA where he began a long career with the Department of Justice. Marie was a longtime resident of McLean for over 70 years, and a faithful communicant of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church. She returned to Vermont every year, well into her 90s, cherishing the place and people who shaped her. Many happy times were spent visiting family at her childhood home in West Rutland and at the Lake St. Catherine Cottages in Wells, VT.

Together, Marie and Joseph raised three children, Mania, Mona, and John. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her gentle spirit, and her quiet strength fortified by an abiding trust in God that guided her through life. Marie’s deep faith was a constant source of comfort and grounding, shaping her life and touching all those whom she encountered. She was also an avid hand crafter, creating countless hooked rugs along with beautifully knitted and sewn pieces that warmed both her home and the people she loved. Her Polish cooking, especially the dishes she lovingly prepared for holidays and gatherings, created memories that her family will carry forward.

Marie is survived by her three children: daughter Mania, daughter Mona and her husband Ron, and son John and his wife Jane, along with four grandchildren: Joseph, Teresa, Michael, and Erin. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren: Stephen, Ella, Jack, Thomas, Amelia, and James, as well as her sister-in-law Sister Theresa Wysolmerski and a special nephew Mark Jugielewicz and his family. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Irene (Socinski) Jurgielewicz, and husband Joseph in 2007.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on April 7th at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in West Rutland, VT with burial to follow where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Marie’s long, beautiful life.
