Mary Lou Marcell-Cameron

Mary Lou Marcell-Cameron, age 84, passed away on May 29, 2025, in the caring company of her husband, Lawrence Thomas Cameron, at Rutland Regional Medical Center after struggling with illness.

She was born on December 5, 1940, in Rutland, Vermont, as one of six sisters to Frederick and Rose Margaret LaPine. After graduating from Mount Saint Joseph Academy, she attended the Burlington School of Cosmetology and Castleton College, becoming a well-respected local business owner in the years that followed.

In her earlier years, she was married to John Delos Marcell. Together, they raised their two children, Johanna Andrea (married to Ron Miller) and John Henry (married to Claudia Marcell). In the second phase of her life, she met her soulmate Lawrence, whom she’d been married to for 36 years and who was by her side, holding her hand until the end. She is also survived by three of her sisters, Fredda, Fran, and Judy, as well as her grandkids, Julian and Jackie.

Mary Lou was always full of passion and love for her family and her community. Her lively spirit was on display whenever she was out golfing, cooking, singing, or dancing. We will miss her spontaneous bursts of song and her infectious laughter filling a room. She will be remembered for the way she cared for others. To have Mary Lou in your corner was to feel truly supported, fiercely loved, and never alone. She will remain forever in our hearts and forever in our corner. We’d like to think that, somewhere out there, she has a tee time to make: sun shining, ocean breeze, and her laughter echoing down the fairway.
