Rutland

Mary J. DiPalma RUTLAND — Mary Josephine (Mazzariello) DiPalma, 89 of Rutland, passed peacefully with her loving family by her side on September 30, 2023. Born November 12, 1933, in Rutland, to Thomas and Regina (Bizzaro) Mazzariello, Mary graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in 1951. Following graduation, she spent several years employed in the Rutland area, including at the Economy Store and Rutland Savings Bank. Mary would continue to work until she married J. Angelo “Dipper” DiPalma on October 15, 1955, and together they would embark on a marriage and love that would last an astounding 64 years. Mary's greatest source of joy and fulfillment was found in her family. She lived her life as a testament to her boundless affection and unconditional love for her husband, children, and grandchildren and she was happiest when she was taking care of (and feeding) those she loved. She will be remembered for the cherished moments she created around her kitchen table, whether she was serving Sunday dinner to family or coffee to friends, and her daily phone calls to just “check in” will be deeply missed. The true matriarch of her family, her passing leaves a void that will be felt by many. Mary is survived by her three children, Jack DiPalma, Michelle (and Kevin) Browne, and Tom (and Linda) DiPalma, all of Rutland; six grandchildren, Joey (and Sarah), Angela (and Mica), Elizabeth, Kathryn (and Jon), David (and Nicole) and Catherine; five great-grandchildren, Regan, Molly, Luke, Tessa and Ben; her brothers Pat and Carl and her sister Cheryl; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law, and countless nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; and her brothers, Tommy and Stevie. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and gratitude to the staff at the Meadows at East Mountain for the tremendous love and care they showed Mary over the last six years as well as to Bayada Hospice. Per Mary’s wishes, there will not be calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11AM Saturday October 7, 2023 in Christ the King Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131. Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home.
