Mary Salengo Hodgdon

Pittsford - Mary Salengo Hodgdon, 78 of Pittsford ,VT passed away on January 7, 2026 at Rutland Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born on March 14, 1947 in Rutland, VT. The daughter of John and Anna Tomczyk Salengo.

Mary grew up in West Rutland, VT, graduating from West Rutland high school in 1965.

Upon the passing of her father, she managed Salengo’s grocery store for many years. Later working and retiring as a supervisor in the dietary department at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her sisters Helen Taylor of Ballston Lake, NY, Cecelia Sharon of Wells, VT, Anna Pietryka of Rutland, VT, her brothers Edward Salengo of Pittsford, VT and Paul Salengo of West Rutland, VT. Nieces and nephews Tracy (Chip) Cayer, TJ (Karen) Taylor, Kris Young, Greg Sharon (Diana), Josh Pietryka, John (Julie) Pietryka, Caryn Pietryka, Nicole (Yong) Lee, Justin Salengo and Casey (Courtney) Salengo, her special sister in-law Jill Henes.

She was predeceased by her husband John Hodgdon, parents and brother John Salengo Jr.

Mary loved her family and had lots of love for her animals.

She enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, going to casinos, photography, traveling, and the ocean.

There will be no calling hours. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rutland County Humane Society located at 765 Stevens Rd Pittsford, VT.
