Maryclaire Renner Hartley, 82, of Hubbardton, VT, died on December 7, 2024 after a long illness.

Maryclaire was born in Rockville Centre, NY on July 6, 1942, the daughter of Gordon and Claire (Sullivan) Meyer.

She graduated class of 1960, from Sacred Heart Academy High School, NY. She then went on to earn a bachelor of arts degree from Ladycliff College, Highland Falls, NY, graduating in 1964. Upon graduating the Katharine Gibbs School in NYC, she took a position with the U.S. Trust Company.

Maryclaire married John T. Renner in 1969 and in 1973, she became a loving stay-at-home mother when her son Stephen was born. Maryclaire and John moved to Vermont in 1969. Later, she re-entered the workforce taking a position at Geiger of Austria in Middlebury, VT. Eventually she relocated to New York City to work as a retail store manager at Geiger’s flagship store in mid-town Manhattan. She worked for Geiger for over 20 years.
In her spare time, she enjoyed her many friends, art, reading, traveling, and sharing her life with her husband George and family.

Survivors include her husband of eighteen years, George Hartley; step-son Joe (Lynn) Hartley and Stephen (Tara) Renner; and brother Gordon (Lisa) Meyer; a granddaughter, Giulietta Renner; nieces Devon Cheshire and Jolin McClesky, sister-in law Marlene Fitzpatrick and a step-granddaughter Emma Hartley.

She was predeceased by both parents; older brother, Donald Meyer (1931- 1963); and first husband John Renner (1940-2004).

A burial service will be held in Spring of 2025.

Arrangements are the direction of Clifford Funeral Home.
