Rutland - Matthew James McDevitt husband of Gail Murray McDevitt died in the comfort of his home March 19, 2026

He was born in Rutland, January 8, 1937 Son of the late Matthew E. McDevitt and Margaret (Mahoney) McDevitt.

He was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy, class of 1956. He was a member of the US Army, serving during the Berlin Crisis in Germany,

He was a painting contractor by profession. 

On July 15, 1967 he married Gail Patricia Murray at Christ the King Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Katherine Barrett and Sister Margaret McDevitt, SSJ and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, His brother Joseph, and His sister Mary Ann Creed,

There will be no calling hours.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Church by Msgr. Bernard Bourgeois onWed, March 25, 2026 at 11 A.M. Burial will Follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to MT ST Joseph Athletic Assn Convent Ave, Rutland, VT.
