Michael Scott

Michael Scott, 90, passed away Thursday December 1, 2016 at Mountain View Center with his family at his side.

He was born August 9, 1926 in Bristol, CT, the son of Hugh and Mary Jane (Powers) Scott.

Mike served in the U.S. army during World War II, stationed in Hawaii and Kentucky. He was a past commander of the West Rutland American Legion Post 87 and Fourth District Commander for the county. He was also a member of the West Rutland Fire Department.

He worked at General Electric in Rutland for 25 years, retiring in 1991.

On May 25, 1963, he married Cecelia (Siementkowski) in St. Stanislaus in West Rutland. He was a member of the church choir and served on the Pastoral Committee, the Holy Name Society and worked on all church projects.

Mike is survived by his wife Cecelia Scott of West Rutland; his son Steven Scott and wife Melissa of San Diego, California; and his daughter Mary Newton and husband David of Pembroke, NH. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ryan, Megan, Michael, Sarah, Quinn, Alex and Arianny and his sister Anna and husband Joseph of Bristol CT; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and seven sisters.
Visiting hours will be held Monday December 5th from 9-11am at the Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home in West Rutland.

Funeral services will be held Monday at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church at 11:30am. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Romanus Igweonu.
