Derrick J. Edmunds
Master Sgt. Derrick James Edmunds, 38, of Rutland died Monday at Brooke Army Medical Center, Texas, after a courageous battle with Cancer.
He was born Nov. 6, 1978, in Rutland, the son of Christopher Edmunds and Sue Reynolds.
MSgt Edmunds graduated from Mill River High School in Clarendon, Vt. in 1996. He then graduated from the Community College of the Air Force with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 2011.
MSgt Edmunds married Jennifer E. Rosario on Jun 11, 2001. Due to Derrick’s military service they lived in several states and countries to include Wyo, Nev., Portugal and Guam.
MSgt Edmunds served in the U.S. Air Force from 1997 until the time of his passing and has deployed to the Middle East twice. He has three AF Achievement Medals and three AF Commendation Medals.
MSgt Edmunds loved going to music concerts, playing and watching basketball, spending time with his family and spending time with his military brothers-in-arms.
Survivors include his wife of Bronx, N.Y.; two daughters, Kiara of Yonkers, N.Y. and Kaedyn of Minot, N.D.; father of Rutland; mother of Proctor, Vt.; three sisters of Rutland, Denise Johnson; Tiffany Resar; Kala Edmunds; and a brother, Jesse Gee of Middlebury, Vt.
A funeral service will be held at Grace Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow at Vermont Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center.
Friends may call at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
