He was someone who left an impression on the people around him, and to his family, he was so much more than the sum of his accomplishments and interests.

Patrick Warren Farley, 67, passed away on October 9, 2026, at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, Vermont, in the presence of family. Born in Flemington, New Jersey, Patrick eventually found his home in Rutland, Vermont, where he spent many years building his career, forming lasting friendships, and raising his family.

Patrick’s love for Vermont began in his early adulthood while serving as a youth pastor in New Jersey. He would bring kids from his church to Vermont to ski, and it was during those trips that he fell in love with Killington Mountain Resort. That connection eventually led him to a successful career at Killington, where he worked from the late 1980s until around 2007.

When he wasn’t working, Patrick could often be found golfing, fishing, or doing what he enjoyed in the kitchen. He loved to cook, and he brought that passion with him to the Rutland Elks Lodge #345, where he was an active member, served two terms as Exalted Ruler, and cooked for the lodge. His involvement with the Elks was an important part of his life, as were the friendships he made along the way.

Those who knew Patrick knew him as a genuine person with a great sense of humor. He was a wonderful father and friend, and he had a love for a good science fiction story. He was someone who left an impression on the people around him, and to his family, he was so much more than the sum of his accomplishments and interests. He was Dad, Grandpa, and a person they loved deeply. His absence will be felt in ways both big and small, and he will be remembered with love for years to come.

Patrick leaves behind his children, Eric Thomas, Amy Cover, Seth Farley, Paige Weiland, and Reid Farley; his grandchildren, Minerva Jane, Liam, Caroline, and Austin; and his siblings, David Farley and Lori Farley Baumgartner. He was predeceased by his parents, David Farley and Barbara McCollum Farley.

A celebration of Patrick’s life is being planned, with details to be announced at a later date.
