Paul J. Crossman Jr., 92, of Rutland
Born December 12, 1933, in Rutland, VT, to Paul J. and Janet (Hebert) Crossman, he was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Paulette (2012); and his brother, Richard (2014).
Paul graduated from Rutland High School in 1951 and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Vermont (1955). He worked for General Electric for 36 years, serving as a Test Engineer in several cities before becoming a Field Service Engineer with GE Ordnance Systems in Pittsfield, MA, where he supported U.S. Naval ships and shipyards, providing training and service for fire control systems. He visited all 50 states and 15 countries.
After retiring in 1990 Paul stayed very active volunteering with Rutland District Court and Marble Valley Correctional Center, assisting individuals applying for public defenders and participating in police ride-alongs.
Paul also volunteered as an usher at the Paramount Theatre and served as historian for the RHS Class of 1951. He was a licensed private investigator and professional engineer. He volunteered as a patient advocate at Rutland Regional Medical Center and in Baltimore hospitals. A member of the Rutland Historical Society, he authored several local history publications. He had a love for photography and was often setting up his tripod and camera taking pictures.
He was a member of local organizations including the Elks, Moose, Legion, VFW and American Legion. Paul was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.
He is survived by loving cousins Todd Eisenman and wife Michelle Eisenman, Sandy Crossman and her partner Bill Hadley, Audrey Peck and husband James Peck. They visited him often and were a big part of his life in later years. He will be missed dearly.
