Rebecca C Hedding

RUTLAND Rebecca C. Hedding (85), of Rutland, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.

Born on Nov. 27, 1938 in Randolph, VT the daughter of the late L. Keith Campbell and Leola (Carpenter) Campbell.

She graduated from Randolph (VT) High School in the class of 1956 and continued her education at Burlington Business College (Now Champlain College) in 1958. She was employed for 3 years in Montpelier at the Public Service Board after graduation.

She married Raymond Hedding on September 24, 1961 in Randolph, VT and moved to Rutland, Vt where her husband worked for CVPS (Now Green Mountain Power). During her early years in Rutland she worked at several part time jobs and eventually was employed by the State of Vermont in the unemployment office for 3 1/2 years.

She eventually returned to her home to begin raising their 3 children. During that time she also took care of VAC (Vermont Achievement Center) children. Once her own children became a little older and started school, she volunteered at their school. Several years after that, she became a full time secretary at that school. (Lincoln). Once Lincoln School was closed and relocated to Northwest, she continued as secretary there for 17 years and retired from there in 2001.

She was a 50 year member of Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, Rutland, VT, a member of several national Model A Ford clubs along with The Red Hatters and a local Home Dem Club. She always remembers of her trip to Poughkeepsie, NY for a national meet in the 1929 Model A roadster that her husband restored. It was kind of breezy as the top was down most of the way. Her husband always tried to get her to drive the Model A but she never did. (No power steering and 4 on the floor with a clutch and mechanical brakes.)

Survivors are her husband of 62 years and three children, Rick Hedding and his wife Deb, of Pittsford, VT, granddaughters Brianna and Lexi, Pamela Carter of Abingdon, MD ,grandsons Devin and Tyler, and Jamison Hedding of Tampa, FL and his wife Heidi, granddaughter Layke, twins Jamison (Cam) grandson and granddaughter Neena.

Rebecca (Becky) was predeceased by three siblings, Corinne Harness, Lawrence G. (Huck) Campbell and Joyce C. Merrill. She was also predeceased by her parents, 3 grandchildren, Brittney, Hope and Jasmine and 1 great granddaughter, Parker.

There will be no calling or visiting hours. A service will be held on at Grace Congregational Church at 2 Court Street, Rutland on Saturday February 10, 2024 at 11 o'clock with Rev John Weatherhogg officiating. Following the service a reception will be held in Fellowship Hall at the church.

The family wishes to thank all of the VNA Hospice of Rutland nurses and several private care people that help out in this family situation.

Arrangements are in the care of Clifford Funeral Home, Rutland, VT

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family in Randolph at a family plot.
