Hydeville- Regina Charlene Baker Cram
It is with great sadness that the family of Regina Cram announces her passing on Mar 11, 2025 at the age of 74, after a valiant and lengthy battle with diabetes. She was surrounded by a circle of love from her large family.
Regina was born in Proctor Vt. on March 2 1951, the daughter of Reginald and Ellen (Beauregard) Baker. She was Beloved Sister #3, a title she proudly held within her 10 siblings rank.
Regina was a graduate of Proctor High School class of 1969. She furthered her education at the Bennington College of Business in 1969 and The Vermont College of Cosmetology in 1973-1974. She was employed by General Electric in Rutland for over 31 years.
She married the love of her life Benjamin Cram August 25, 1979
A lifetime Vermonter, she enjoyed her home in Hydeville, her vegetable and flower gardens and her cats. You could find her attending Street Rod car shows as she was an avid fan of vintage automobiles, acting as secretary for RAVE for many years. She was the proud owner of a ‘64.5 Mustang Convertible and a ‘49 Ford Kustom.
She wrote poetry, loved shopping, no matter where or when, and many were the lucky recipients of those trips. One of her favorite pastimes and biggest passions was spending time with her large extended family, often enjoying a cup of tea with sisters, nieces or friends. Whether she was hosting a large gathering or attending someone else's get together, Regina never missed a party or a chance to get involved and help.
After retirement she and Ben became" snowbirds" establishing a residence in the Kissimmee Florida area where she was a member of “The Red Hatters" with two older sisters who also wintered there. The members always looked forward to the return of The 3 Baker Girls in force because they always brought unstoppable energy and fun to their surroundings.
Regina had a adventurous spirit, loving to travel and experience new things. She loved Maine or anywhere she could walk on the beach, collect sea shells and listen to the ocean. Active in Habitat for Humanity in her younger years, her travels took her to Mississippi to help those less fortunate and to Honduras where her compassion, generosity and humanity lead her to gift the entire contents of her suitcase to those she had come to care for. She arrived home with only the clothes on her back.
Regina was also greatly involved in the lives of her granddaughters. She relished their various accomplishments and joyfully attended every recital, softball game and activity that they engaged in.
She had an incredible soft spot for adopting kitties and was never without their companionship. Her latest “Old Yeller” and “Hyden" were of great comfort to her during her last year and they will dearly miss her.
Stubborn and strong, independent and outspoken but also tender hearted, generous, supportive and deeply protective of all those she cared about! Not only her own nuclear family but the multitudes of special nieces and nephews lucky enough to call her “Aunt". She touched so many lives, and her love never wavered.
Survivors are her husband Benjamin Cram, of Hydeville, daughter Taralyn Thorne (Michael), of Essex Jct, her granddaughters Makenna Thorne (Kipp) and Ainsley Thorne, her siblings Ann Rossi (Fred), Mary Harder, Daniel Baker (Pauline), Jayne Nesto (Jerry), Joseph Baker (Diane), Richard Baker (Karen), Jonathan Baker (Cathy), Patrick Baker and Kathryn Fredette (Rick), and many close nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and numerous cousins.
Every gathering we have, you will be with us. Your name will be spoken, your stories told, your memories shared. Your purpose was always to be our Queen and make this world a more beautiful place.
