Richard A. Gonyea

Richard A. Gonyea got his angel wings on May 2nd, 2026 surrounded by family and friends, at the age of 85. He was born on September 15th, 1940, to Raymond and Alice Gonyea, their 8th son.

Richard loved his family, his church and his community. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, and volunteered many hours at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was a special person, strong in his faith and spirit, and who will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by 2 sisters; Delia Singleton of Stuart, FL, and Louise (James) Fitzsimmons of South Burlington, his sister-in-law, Marie Gonyea of Southington, CT, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Richard is predeceased by his parents, and his 9 brothers and sisters.

An hour of open visitation will be held at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland on June 20th, 2026 from 10:00am to 11:00am. Following this, a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church starting at 11:00am.
