Ronald G. Baker

Ronald Gene Baker,( 71), of Rutland, VT passed away October 18, 2023 after a long illness at his son's residence in Hampton NY surrounded by children and their companions. Ronnie was born August 7, 1952 in Rutland VT to his loving parents  Alice Baker (Whitney) and Meda Baker. Ronnie was an avid big game hunter who spent many years traveling around the country chasing those big game trophies - which he had many of. He was also a racecar enthusiast. Spending many days at the dragstrip racing until his health no longer allowed. However, Ronnie did pass his love for racing down to his son Eric, whom he then spent countless hours working alongside mentoring with him with his race cars. Ronnie spent much of his life working in the construction business and also spent several years as a camp Ranger for the Boy Scouts of American in Benson, VT.

Ronnie is survived by his 3 children Eric Baker of Hampton, NY, Shanna Baker, of Whitehall NY and Kara (Baker) Kelley, of West Rutland, VT. His 5 loving grandchildren:  Abbie Baker, Brooke Baker, Aliza Roberts, Anthony Baker and Kaleb Kelley. Also, his ex-wife Deborah (Baker) Johnson, whom he shared his children with and was a dear friend of Ronnie's until the very end. We also cannot forget his four-legged side companion Sammy, who you would never see Ronnie without. .

Ronnie was predeceased by his mother, Alice Baker and father Meda Baker.

A private gathering was held for Ronnie and a memorial service is being planned for early spring 2024.
