Rose Pelchat

A strong advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves was lost on April 23, 2026 when Rose Pelchat died on April 23, 2026 after a brief illness. Rose was born August 12, 1933 in Burlington, VT, the youngest of seven children, daughter of Henry and Mary Lafond.

She was raised in West Rutland and attended Mount St. Joseph Academy, where she met her husband, Robert “Bob”. There were married in Rutland in 1951 and raised five children. Rose continued her education once her children were older and attended Castleton State College; Sussex Community College in NJ and obtained her Real Estate Broker’s license, practicing in NY, PA and NJ. Throughout her life Rose developed and maintained friends in every place she lived, including Rutland, VT; Clifton Park, NY; King of Prussia, PA; Hamburg, NJ; Largo, FL and most recently Vista Senior Living in Killington, VT. She loved to travel, golf, play bridge and cribbage. She stay in touch with her many friends and relatives and, especially, to add wry comments to a conversation.

She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Oczechowski (Larry Young) of Rutland, VT; Michelle Ryan (Bernard “Jerry”) of Stockbridge, MA; and Lisa Perry (Arthur) of Lake George, NY.

Rose was predeceased by her husband, Robert; son, Joseph; and daughter, Ellen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Church, 60 South Main Street, Rutland, VT on Monday June 15, 2026 at 11:00. Burial will be private.
