Shirley W. Billings, 88, of White River Junction (WRJ), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
She was born on September 26, 1938, in Chicopee, Massachusetts, the daughter of Clifford and Elizabeth (Rehberger) Wheeler. Mrs. Billings was employed at the Gill Odd Fellows Home in Ludlow, Vermont, for 25 years. Following her retirement, she worked at the President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site in Plymouth, Vermont.
Shirley enjoyed walking and had a deep love for gardening, baking, sewing, and quilting. She was a dedicated member of the Church of the Annunciation in Ludlow and later attended Christ the King Church in Rutland. She and her husband, Robert, cherished traveling together, especially trips to the beach.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Billings, Sr.; three brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include her children, Robert Billings, Jr., Lonni Stapanon, Tracy Billings, and Lisa Billings Hague and her husband, Thomas Hague; her brother, Jack Norton; her grandchildren, Alisa, Maria, Brianna, and Faith; and her great-grandchildren, Karah and Christopher.
The funeral mass will take place at Christ the King Church in Rutland on Monday October 12, 2026 at 11AM.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Valley Terrace for the wonderful care they provided, as well as the staff at the Jack Byrne Center for their exceptional compassion.
